Is your job driving you to the poor house? Many times it can be. Many days we go to work and the wallet drain immediately starts. I you work more than 15 miles from work then you know the value of having a fuel efficient car. With gas right now at an average of $3.00 a gallon it can really cost a pretty penny when you travel long distances to work. Many people find themselves filling up the gas tank at least once a week. A large SUV can take about $75-$100 to fill up and it can leave you feeling like you are working everyday just to be able to go to work because there is little left over for leisure.
Another thing that work does to drain us in lunch. The average amount a person spends on lunch is $5.00 a day. A two week paycheck is depleted by $50 just for lunch alone. And if you like to goto Starbucks or any other coffee shop then you can double that bi-monthly amount. That is only the beggining. Add a breakfast stop in there and you are looking at about $15 a day just for eating and you haven’t even made it home for dinner.  Now we are looking at $300/mo. Now I don’t know about you but I could think of alot of things i could do with that money.
Now add the gas and food together and a whole check per month is going down the drain. Now let’s look for ways to fix this.
- Only drive to necessary places to conserve gas.
- Make breakfast at home as much as you can. Every meal at home saves that much money per day.
- Make lunch at home or take leftovers from the night before to work for lunch. That will save you even more money.
- If you have to buy breakfast then eat a heavy breakfast or split it up so that you can save half and eat for lunch. That will cut your daily spending in half.
- Carpool with a friend or family to keep from having to burn a lot of gas.
There are many ways for you to save money during the work week. You don’t have to make a trip to work into a trip to the poor house.
